Science: 1993 Researchers at MIT announce a new data compression algorithm improving internet transmission speeds.
Sports: 1993 Steffi Graf wins the French Open defeating Mary Joe Fernandez in the final.
Tech: 1993 Microsoft announces Windows NT 3.1, its first true 32-bit operating system.
